The Trujillo Business Association (ASEMTRU) has already started its countdown to the celebration of its Business Awards gala, which will take place on June 12, at 8:00 p.m., at La Abadía. Within these awards, it has agreed to grant its 2026 special distinction to the Xavier de Salas Foundation, "in recognition of its extraordinary contribution to the cultural, academic, tourist and economic development of the city of Trujillo for more than four decades," according to sources from the organization in a press release.

This distinction aims to recognize those institutions, entities or people whose career has made a unique and especially relevant contribution to the progress and promotion of the city of Trujillo.

Asemtru remembers that the Xavier de Salas Foundation, created in 1981, has played a fundamental role in the cultural revitalization of Trujillo, promoting initiatives that have transcended the local level and have projected the name of the city both nationally and internationally.

Among his main contributions is the management and promotion of the Coria Museum, which since 1986 has established itself as one of the cultural references of Trujillo, enriching the city's tourist offer and contributing to the conservation and dissemination of its historical and artistic heritage.

Equally relevant has been his work in the international academic field. Since 1996, this organization has developed a collaboration program with universities in Charleston (United States). Thanks to this proposal, numerous students have been able to perfect their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture through training stays of several weeks in Trujillo. "This initiative has favored cultural exchange and has generated a significant economic impact for the local business fabric, especially in sectors such as accommodation, restaurants and services," it is indicated.

Throughout its history, the Xavier de Salas Foundation has also promoted various academic and research programs of great value, among which the GEM Program in collaboration with the University of Extremadura stands out, research projects linked to traditional crafts, initiatives related to the environment and landscaping, as well as numerous activities aimed at the study, conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage.

Special mention also deserves its commitment to the promotion of music and the arts through the renowned Musical Evenings, which have enriched the cultural life of the city and attracted numerous visitors and participants over the years.

Likewise, the Foundation has developed international cooperation and collaboration projects, including those established with a German library, strengthening cultural and academic ties between Trujillo and different European institutions.
